Washington Gas has been part of the Washington area for nearly 160 years and our role in the community goes beyond providing energy. We have a long-standing commitment to service and to making a difference in the lives of our customers, our employees and members of the communities we serve. We focus our efforts on health, education and the environment. An overview of our philanthropic program is provided below.

In 1983, Washington Gas established the Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF) in conjunction with The Salvation Army. Since WAFF's inception, Washington Gas has paid all of the administrative costs and The Salvation Army administers the fund. Because Washington Gas pays all of the administrative expenses, 100% of all contributions go directly to people in need. Over its 27-year history, WAFF has assisted more than 240,000 people and has distributed more than $20.3 million.
Employee Community Service Program
Washington Gas’ Community Service Teams are made up of employee volunteers. Each year, these teams manage a number of projects that benefit residents of the entire region.
